Gabadinho, Atusaye on target

Flames forwards Gabadinho Mhango and Atusaye Nyondo were on target for their teams in the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) mid-week fixtures.

Gabadinho drew first blood for Bloemfontein Celtic in the fourth minute as they swept aside Golden Arrows 3-0 to go eighth on the table with 16 points from 12 games. Thabo Nthenthe and Vuyani Ntanga scored the other goals for Phunya Sele Sele.

According to Kickoff.com, Gabadinho beat Arrows goaltender Siya Mngona with a right-footed effort.

Another Malawian defender Limbikani Mzava, was also in action for Celtic in the emphatic win that leaves them unbeaten in eight games.

Former Flames captain John Maduka who is also Celtic team manager, was all praises for Gabadinho: “As I said, he keeps getting better with time and as soon as he settles down, he will be massive. He is a naturally gifted player with a bright future.”

Nyondo scored the last goal for University of Pretoria in their 3-1 victory over Free State Stars. ‘Varsity have moved one step up to 14th on the log with 11 points from 12 games.

But there was no game time for striker Robin Ngalande whose side also won 1-0 against Moroka Swallows. Wits are on third position with 19 points from 11 games

Other Malawians, veteran forward Esau Kanyenda and midfielder Robert ‘Baggio’ Ngambi were inactive as their teams Polokwane City and Platinum Stars respectively were on bye.

Stars are fourth also with 19 points from 12 games while Polokwane are 14th with 11 points from 12 games.
